Rita was living in the streets of Nigeria, surviving by begging money from passers-by. One day she was approached by a friendly woman who took her to her home. She said she had a supermarket in Europe and asked Rita if she would like to go there and work. Rita was delighted.

“When I heard people saying they’d go back again and look for a smuggler, that’s when I remembered I’d lost my sister on that road. I thought, if you go back you might die there like your sister and your mum will lose you too.” Abdisamad was rescued at sea and taken back to Libya. He decided to return to Somalia instead of risking his life at sea again. Watch his story!
