– LILIANShe said everything she told us in Nigeria was a lie and over here we’ll be working as prostitutes. She said if I didn’t do it, I would die. Did I forget that I swore an oath?
– PATIENCEWhen we came to Italy, she told us what kind of job we were meant to do. Some of us were even injured but they didn’t care. They said we must pay them 25,000 Euros.
The Madams were brutal and inhumane and the women were forced to walk the streets every day. They were not allowed to keep any money they had earned and if they did not bring back enough, they were beaten or thrown out in the street.
– LILIANSometimes I’d earn 200 Euros a day. When I gave it to her she’d beat me, insult me and then push me back to the road.
– MERCYThe woman always mistreated me. If I didn’t work she’d nag and insult me. Customers would beat me but if I stayed home, she’d order me to go out and work again.
– TINAShe kicked me out the day I couldn’t bring home money. Since I couldn’t bring money that day, she sent me off, threw me out at midnight.
These women all managed to escape their tormentors and they want to warn young women in Nigeria about what awaits them if they believe in sweet promises of a nice job in Europe.
– NORAGirls get smuggled regularly to Europe. I don’t want them to experience what happened to me. Not anyone, not a family member, not a woman like me, to experience that sort of thing.
