One day she met a woman who told her she could arrange a job for her abroad.
Nora thought this was an opportunity to support her family so she gladly agreed.
Before leaving, Nora and the others were told to go through a voodoo ceremony and swear an oath to ensure that there would be trust between them and the woman. Then they departed for Europe. The route went through Niger and Libya and as soon as they had left Nigeria the attitude of the woman changed completely. She revealed herself to be a trafficker and brothel Madam. Nora and her companions were brutally treated.
“I was beaten and raped.I still have scars to show what I went through.She sold three of us to a woman in Tripoli.The woman I was sold to was a wicked human being. A very bad person.”
After nine months as a sex slave in a brothel Nora was put on a boat to Italy. She was expecting to finally get the job she had been promised but when the traffickers took her away from the reception centre she was forced into street prostitution.
“We lived in the house and slept there at night but still had to go out hustling in the streets. We were out in the streets both day and night. Many girls have lost their lives while working as prostitutes in Italy.”
One day Nora managed to run away from the traffickers and escaped to Germany. She is still being harassed by the traffickers who keep calling her mother back home and threatening her.
